With fishing boats and pleasure craft docked right there, people stroll along the marina that has many shops and restaurants. This picture is taken during Art Walk when the main street is closed to traffic. Residents of Cohasset Beach can reach here easily by foot or bicycle (or vehicle) and then retreat to the privacy of their home. Summer also features tall ships that people can board and ride. The Chieftan and Hawaiian come in from other ports on the Pacific. Pirates invade Westport on a weekend to give the kids a thrill, not to mention the adults. Every weeked of the summer has various activities bound to please the residents of Westport. You will never be short of things to do. A beautiful curved beach area on the ocean very close to the town, called Half Moon Bay, attracts surfers because of its fine surf. Surfers come from a wide area to participate in surfing competition that happens at least once a year. Spectators have an excellent view. Kites are very popular on Westport's beaches. To keep the coastline as pristine and conducive to a sense of the natural, local law prohibits cars from driving on the beaches. |
